N6.2.1: Letters
This Norm shows different ways to achieve lettering in Minecraft. They are examples.

6.2.1.1: Sign letters
Sign letters are signs with a single letter on each of them. It is recommended to copy these out of the .schematic file.
6.2.1.2: 2*2 letters
These are easily transformable to letters of any kind of stair, slab and full blocks. They are useful for big letterings on skyscrapers etc.
6.2.1.3: 3*3 letters
3*3 letters are bigger versions of the 2*2 ones, so the same things apply.
6.2.1.4: Banner letters
These are not included in the .schematic but are available via the BannerMod.
